Why smartTOS exists
Born from practice
Operating and developing terminal operating systems since the year 2000. The team knows shunting lists, twist-lock settings and EDIGES from operations, not from a specification.
Built for intermodal terminals
Not a port system with combined transport bolted on afterwards: smartTOS has been built from the start for handling between rail, road and water, with rail as a core process.
A product, not a project
smartTOS is a product with a roadmap, releases and 24/7 operations, not a one-off custom development that stands still after go-live. A parallel R&D track works on AI-based train dispatching, automated slot allocation and eFTI-based CO₂ reporting.
From terminal practice to product
smartTOS was not designed on a drawing board. It grew out of years of work on digitalisation projects for intermodal terminals. That experience is built into the product today: which processes a combined-transport terminal really needs, where introductions fail, what helps dispatchers in their daily work.

Evolit GmbH, the manufacturer
Evolit GmbH, based in Vienna, has been developing and operating business-critical software systems for rail, logistics and energy for years, from design and implementation to 24/7 operations.
smartTOS is developed, maintained and operated by Evolit as a product: with data hosted in the EU, active monitoring and support in German and English. Around 150 people stand behind the product team, and cooperation runs on flexible models rather than rigid licence contracts.
